The image above shows some of the logos of organizations that have been fined in recent years for failing to follow the Import and Export regulations — you will most likely recognize many of the big names on this slide.
The State Department Compliance Enforcement branch has been building three times the amount of cases against industry companies for failing to follow the regulations than in the past. It is under new management and this management believes strongly that companies will be compliant with the regulations, or suffer the consequences.
Consider that there is an entire branch of the Department of State responsible for determining who is or is not following the regulations and deciding about criminal and civil penalties for those who do not meet the standards. All this branch does is look for organizations that are non-compliant and determines what action to take against them. The nature of TigerSwan's work is enough to call the organization to the Department of State's regulatory compliance branch. Given that the company may already have that extra level of scrutiny it is imperative that employees and IC's behave in a compliant manner at all times.
