Keys to Compliance

Report Violations

Report any possible issues to your compliance professional as soon as possible. The sooner that individual knows what is going on, the sooner they can "fix" the problem and possibly prevent a violation.

Keep in mind, it is against the law for TigerSwan to retaliate against anyone that reports a possible violation — even if they are wrong about the nature of the violation. TigerSwan may not participate in any recrimination against that individual either.

Ultimately, your responsibility is to be a good corporate citizen, work with your team members, remind folks they have additional issues to think through then just a new contract or business develop opportunity — Export and Import compliance must be integrated into your organization as a day-to-day activity or you will fail in your efforts to be compliant. Your top management must support the compliance program and enforce it and live it — and expect the others in the organization to do so as well. If your top management does not support 100% the enforcement of compliance within your organization, it is likely your organization will fail to be compliant — thus putting it a enormous risk for fines and penalties.

Follow the plans set up by your compliance professional, take the time to read memos and messages that individual may send you, complete the documentation they request in a timely manner. Work with that individual to ensure you are doing everything you can to support your organization's overall compliance stance. Companies with a strong commitment to compliance and even strong compliance programs are rarely subject to the massive fines and criminal charges that some other organizations endure. Strive to make your organization a success with compliance, something that will actually give you a competitive edge over other U.S. organizations that have put less time and effort into their compliance plans. Once you understand the requirements and get ahead of the game, you will be able to obtain authorizations much faster than your competitors and will gain the confidence of the oversight organizations of the U.S. Government.

Remember, everyone is responsible for compliance. Compliance ultimately protects our soldiers in the field and protects our great country's National Security and Foreign Policy. Do your part to keep us all safe and competitive.
