  Many times when an activity is especially sensitive, the other U.S. Government agencies that regulate imports and exports may require additional authorizations from their own agency prior to allowing an export or import to occur. For example, the FDA has to approve any item that has lasers in it for export or import. The ATF requires special licenses for items such as firearms of a certain caliber, weapons of mass destruction — such as a military aircraft or even for small squibs or explosive charges. Your compliance professional will be familiar with the required regulations and obtain the proper authorizations.

It is important to note that each agency works on its own timeline and any additional authorizations that are required with add significant time to the wait for approval.
