Important Terms

  It is important to understand the terms used by the regulatory agencies to ensure that your organization understands what is required of them and that the organization understands what is meant by these requirements.

An export is the transfer, sharing, demonstrating or training related to hardware, technical data, or defense services to anyone who is outside the United States, or to a Non-U.S. Person, even if that person is within the United States.

An import is the entrance of anything into the United States, such as goods or technology.
